What are Kendal road surfaces made of?

The majority of Kendal roads are made of tarmacadam or asphalt, which consists of sand, gravel and stone in a bitumen binder. This material is very hard wearing and can support great weights and fluctuations in temperature. Some roads may also be made of concrete.

How long will a Tarmac surface last?

On average, the lifespan of Tarmac is between 12 and 15 years before it will need to be replaced or undergo major repair work. Through years of heavy use and exposure to the elements, minor repairs to cracks and potholes may need to be completed, however other than this, very little maintenance work is required.

What is the best way to repair a pothole?

Potholes can’t generally be repaired by a member of the public, due to safety concerns. We always recommend asking a professional Kendal road repair company to carry out the work.

Eden Driveways & Patios are experts in pothole repairs and we guarantee an excellent job. The process involves clearing the pothole of any debris, filling it with a cold-patch material and then finally applying a surface layer.

How deep does a pothole have to be before requiring repair?

A highway inspector will investigate and consider whether a repair is needed. If the pot hole is deep and gets to around around 20cm-30cm wide, this will usually qualify for a porthole filling service. In some councils it could hit 60mm deep before it’s classed as urgent.
